Hand-knotted rugs are the most popular rug weaving technique. Hand-knotted weave can be traced centuries ago and it is one of the oldest rug weaving techniques. It's one of the toughest rug weaving skills to learn and is only passed through generations or a master weaver teaches to its disciple. An average weaver can tie about 10,000 knots a day, a fine high-quality hand-knotted rug can take anywhere from 6-12 months to weave depending on the quality (knots per inch) of the rug and this influences the price of the rug too, higher the knots - expensive the rug is. A hand-knotted rug can last for decades and are more durable than other rug weaving techniques
This specific rug combines two worlds, the ancient technique of hand-knotted Tibetan weave and the modern design and colors.
